Welcome to Maple Hill
Now open in Plum Borough
Maple Hill Academy is a Christ-centered school serving kindergarten through second grade in our founding year. We’re built around the spirit of a one-room schoolhouse, where children of different ages learn alongside each other at small tables, with a teacher and an assistant who know every child by name. Our days are grounded in back-to-basics academics, enriched by hands-on learning and time outdoors, and wrapped in prayer, kindness, and a community that becomes family.
Morning Academics
Mornings are for strong foundations. Each day starts with our morning gathering. We pray, say the pledge, share affirmations, and welcome the day together as one schoolhouse community. Then we move into phonics, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Small groups mean every child gets real attention. Low-tech. No busywork. Just focused, joyful learning.
Afternoon Adventures
Afternoons are for exploring. We trade desks for hands-on learning; Kids in the kitchen, hands in the garden, science in the field, and history brought to life. This is time for kids to simply be kids and to learn the kind of skills that stick for a lifetime.
Faith Integration
Faith isn't a subject. It's the soil every other subject grows from. Every day begins and ends with prayer. Scripture shapes our curriculum, our character lessons, and the way we treat each other. Children learn the books of the Bible, how to pray aloud, and what it means to grow in wisdom and love for others.

The people behind Maple Hill Academy
Maple Hill Academy began around a kitchen table — in a long conversation about what our children really need. Steven and Samantha Pastor are parents, neighbors, and long-time servants of their church community, building the kind of school they’d want for their own family.
Samantha Pastor
co-founder
A lifelong educator at heart, Samantha has spent her career walking alongside children — as a preschool teacher’s assistant, a nanny, and a small-group leader to the same group of girls from seventh grade through high school. Maple Hill is the one-room schoolhouse she’s dreamed of building for years.
Steven Pastor
co-founder
A private Christian school graduate turned business owner of fifteen years, Steven brings a builder’s mindset and a deep personal conviction about the difference a Christ-centered education makes. When Samantha brought him the vision for Maple Hill, he was all in from the first conversation.

Maple Hill returns to the kind of school a lot of parents feel has been lost. Our days are simple, focused, and full of meaning.
Small by design. We’re built around the spirit of a one-room schoolhouse. Children gather at small tables, learning alongside one another, with a teacher and an assistant who know every child by name.
Back to basics. Mornings are devoted to phonics, reading, writing, and arithmetic. No screens. No busywork. Afternoons belong to the outdoors, the garden, art, and hands-on work.
Christ-centered. Our day begins and ends with prayer. Scripture shapes our curriculum, our character lessons, and the way we treat each other.
Growth you can see. Instead of letter grades, we use skills-based progress reports, narrative feedback, and portfolios of real student work. You’ll see exactly how your child is growing.
